Why Henderson Homeowners Choose Carrier HVAC

Carrier HVAC service in Henderson is what we do every day at Dalton Heating & Air Henderson. We’re an independent Carrier service provider, not a factory-authorized dealer, which means we work for you, not for a franchise quota. From original Carrier installations in 1990s Green Valley homes to newer Infinity systems in Inspirada, we diagnose and repair Carrier equipment using factory-correct practices and OEM parts where they count. If your Carrier is acting up in this heat, call (775) 593-7060 and we’ll give you a straight answer before we touch anything.

The Carrier brand has a deep footprint in Henderson. Builders put Carrier condensers on thousands of homes during the 1990s and 2000s construction boom, and many of those units are still running today, some on borrowed time. We know exactly where those systems fail under 115-degree attic conditions and blowing dust. That knowledge means fewer return trips and a repair that holds.

Why Trust Dalton Heating & Air Henderson for Your Carrier HVAC?

Our technicians cut their teeth on Carrier’s two-stage and inverter-driven units when Henderson’s first mass deployments hit, so we know precisely how the Infinity and Performance lines degrade under intense attic heat and desert dust. We fix what dealers walk away from, without pretending to be a Carrier arm. Every Carrier call gets a written price before any work starts, and every repair carries our written guarantee for a full year with a free return visit if the repair fails. That’s the Garrison Standard, and Marco Benitez built this shop on it.

Marco learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and spent nearly two decades on residential and light commercial HVAC across the Southwest before putting down roots here. He and the crew have been servicing Henderson since the neighborhoods around The District at Green Valley Ranch were still going up. Marco will tell you the number before he touches anything, and he’ll explain what it covers. If the price surprises you, something went wrong before he even opened his toolbox.

Carrier equipment uses proprietary communicating controls that confuse techs who only know generic wiring. We don’t guess at error codes. We read them, trace them to the failing component, and show you what we found before we reach for a part.

Common Carrier HVAC Problems We Fix in Henderson

Here’s what actually fails on Carrier systems in this climate, not a generic list you’ll find on a manufacturer brochure:

  • Infinity communicating thermostat error 179 (lost bus communication). The Infinity system talks between the thermostat, air handler, and outdoor unit over a low-voltage data bus. When a connection corrodes or a board starts failing, the system throws error 179 and defaults to stage-one cooling only. The house still gets cool air, barely, but it never stops running and July power bills spike. A dealer often quotes a full board replacement. Often the fix is a corroded connector or a failing sensor. We find it, fix it, and re-run the communicating bus check to prove it’s resolved.
  • Performance 16 two-stage compressor short-cycling in low stage. The Performance 16 uses a two-stage scroll compressor with an unloader solenoid that shifts between low and high capacity. When that solenoid fails, the compressor never engages the second stage. The coil freezes up on humid days and the system short-cycles, hammering the compressor. Henderson’s dry heat masks the frost until the low-pressure lockout trips. We replace the unloader solenoid, verify staging with gauges, and send you the before-and-after readings.
  • Comfort 14 aluminum evaporator coil pinholes (2011 – 2015 production). Carrier switched to all-aluminum evaporator coils to fight formicary corrosion, and for a few model years that aluminum was thin in spots. We see pinholes on Comfort 14 units from that era that dump R-410A refrigerant slowly, then trip low-pressure lockouts when the charge drops too far. You’ll notice the system runs but delivers lukewarm air, or the outdoor unit short-cycles. A leak search with an electronic detector finds it in under an hour most times. Then we show you the repair cost against the replacement payback before you spend a dollar.
  • Infinity 80% gas furnace secondary heat exchanger rust-through. Henderson’s winter cold snaps are rare but sharp, and when they hit, condensate drains on high-efficiency furnaces can clog with dust and debris from a long cooling season. If that drain backs up, condensate sits against the secondary heat exchanger and rust sets in. A rusted secondary heat exchanger is a safety issue and often means furnace replacement is the smarter call. We pressure-test and inspect with a camera so you’re not guessing.
  • UV-baked condenser coil fins on west-facing installations. Three hundred days of sun eats outdoor units in Henderson faster than almost anywhere. West-facing Carrier condensers with no shade lose fin adhesion, coils clog with dust and cottonwood, and head pressure climbs. We clean, comb, and repair fins where they’re salvageable. When they’re not, we tell you straight and show you the math on replacement.

Carrier Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

For anything in the sealed system or communicating controls, boards, thermistors, EXVs, compressor run capacitors, we default to genuine Carrier OEM parts. Aftermarket clones cause Infinity bus errors and intermittent failures that cost more in callbacks than the part ever saved. For wear items like contactors, blower motor modules, and ignitors, we use OEM or top-tier aftermarket parts interchangeably and we’ll tell you which is going on your unit and why.

We stock common Carrier parts locally for faster turnaround: run capacitors for single-stage Comfort units, contactors, ignitors for Infinity 80% furnaces, unloader solenoids for Performance 16 two-stage compressors, and communicating thermistors for Infinity systems. What we don’t stock, we can usually have the same day from local supply houses, not a week out from a factory warehouse.

The repair-vs-replace decision follows one rule: we show you the repair quote next to the replacement payback before you spend. A $300 capacitor replacement on a 12-year-old Comfort 14 that’s already leaking refrigerant is probably not money well spent. A $250 unloader solenoid on a five-year-old Performance 16 under warranty is an easy call. You get both numbers and our honest read. Call (775) 593-7060 and we’ll give you that read.

Our Carrier Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We pull the thermostat error logs and read the communicating bus data before we touch anything mechanical. On Infinity systems, that means reading fault history, not just current status. Then we test the suspected component with the right tools, not guesswork.
  2. 2
Written quote. You see the part cost, labor, and any refrigerant or materials in writing before we start. No exceptions, no “we’ll see.” The number you approve is the number you pay.
  3. 3
Repair or install. We use OEM parts in the sealed system and controls, factory-correct torque settings, and proper evacuation and charge procedures. Refrigerant charge is weighed in, not guessed at. For installations, we run full load calculations and verify static pressure before the unit ships.
  4. 4
Test and verify. After any repair, we run the system through full operation: staging, refrigerant pressures, temperature split, and communicating bus integrity. We show you the readings. If something’s still off, we find it before we leave.
  5. 5
Written guarantee. Every repair carries a one-year written guarantee. If the same repair fails within that year, we return at no charge. That’s not an upgrade you have to ask for, it’s how every Carrier call leaves our shop.

Carrier Products We Service & Install in Henderson

We work on the full Carrier residential line, from the high-end Infinity 24 variable-speed air conditioner to the mid-tier Performance 16 two-stage and the entry-level Comfort 14 single-stage. That includes the Infinity 80% AFUE gas furnace (58TN) and the Infinity series heat pumps, along with older Carrier models still running in Henderson homes from the 1990s and early 2000s. If it says Carrier on the data plate, we service it.

We also install new Carrier equipment when replacement is the right call. We’ll run the load calculation for your specific house, not a rule of thumb, and quote you a written fixed price with a set install date. No “we’ll see when the unit shows up.”

We Also Service These Brands

Carrier isn’t the only name we work on. Our technicians are factory-trained to service Trane and Lennox equipment, along with six other major residential brands. If you have mixed-brand home, a Trane heat pump here, a Lennox furnace there, we’re the crew you can stop juggling service providers for.

FAQs – Carrier HVAC Service in Henderson

Why does my Carrier Infinity thermostat show error 179 and only blow lukewarm air?

Error 179 means the Infinity system lost communication between the thermostat and the indoor or outdoor unit over the low-voltage data bus. The system defaults to stage-one cooling only, so the house never reaches set point and the system runs nonstop. It’s often a corroded connector at the air handler or a failing sensor, not a dead board. We diagnose the bus with the proper meter, find the open, and repair it, then re-verify communication before we leave. If you’re seeing 179 on your thermostat, call (775) 593-7060 and we’ll tell you what we find.

Can you recharge my older Carrier Comfort 14 with R-410A, or do I have to replace it?

If there’s refrigerant in the system and we can find and repair the leak, we can recharge it. The Comfort 14 units from 2011 – 2015 are prone to evaporator coil pinholes that leak slowly. If that’s what we find, we’ll show you the repair cost against a replacement quote and let you decide with real numbers. If the system is completely flat, there’s a bigger leak and likely contamination. We’ll tell you straight whether a recharge makes sense. Call (775) 593-7060 for an exact diagnosis.

My Carrier two-stage AC runs constantly but won’t cool below 78 on 110-degree days. What’s wrong?

On a Performance 16, the most common cause is a failed unloader solenoid that keeps the compressor from engaging second stage. The system runs in low stage all day, which can’t move enough heat when it’s 110 outside. We see this regularly in Henderson’s newer neighborhoods. The fix is replacing the unloader solenoid and verifying both stages engage with gauge readings. If it’s an Infinity system, we also check for error 179 or a failing thermistor that’s causing the system to default to low stage. Either way, hours of runtime without reaching set point is a solvable problem, not something you live with. Call (775) 593-7060 and we’ll find it.

Do you replace just the secondary heat exchanger on a Carrier Infinity 80% furnace, or is full replacement smarter?

We can replace a secondary heat exchanger, but on an Infinity 80% furnace with rust-through, full replacement is usually the smarter call. Rust in the secondary means the primary is often not far behind, and the labor to split the heat exchanger apart costs nearly as much as a new furnace in some cases. We’ll show you both numbers. If the furnace is under warranty, the heat exchanger part may be covered. We handle the warranty paperwork for you either way. Call (775) 593-7060 for a straight assessment.

Is it okay to use aftermarket capacitors in a Carrier Infinity outdoor unit?

No, not on an Infinity system. Those units use communicating controls, and an aftermarket run capacitor with slightly different specifications can cause bus communication errors and premature compressor failure. We use genuine Carrier OEM capacitors in Infinity and Performance 16 units. On single-stage Comfort units, a top-tier aftermarket capacitor is generally fine and we’ll tell you which one we’re installing and why. The part cost difference is small. The callback cost if the wrong capacitor fails is not.
